1968 FIAT 124 SPORT COUPE
Consignment sale, seller motivated:
Engine, mechanicals:
- Extensive mechanical rebuild including suspension and engine.
- Twin Weber 40 DCOE carbs and cams.
- Timing belt tight, looks recently replaced, sorry no receipts.
- Exhaust in great condition, engine does not smoke.
- Sump protector.
- Tight suspension, larger front anti sway bar.
- Tubular headers.
Exterior:
- Very little rust present on the car, very solid and decent underneath. Rust bubbles are present on the right rear window, and right rocker just in front of the rear wheel. Some rust repair was done under the rear edge of the hood.
- The dark green paint looks good from ten feet but the new owner will eventually want to repaint the car. Most of the chrome shows wear but is quite serviceable.
- Brakes are excellent, all glass is in fine condition.
- Period BWA wheels, excellent tires give superb handling.
Interior:
- Front seats are aftermarket and comfortable, no indication of what happened to the original front seats.
- Most of the interior is nice but the dash pad needs to be recovered.
- All gauges and lights work.
- Missing upright trim on the rear edge of the driver’s door.
Other:
- Car shows 44,577 miles on the odometer, more likely 144,577.
- Drives incredibly well. Very docile when driven gently, but seriously comes to life when you open the throttle. Ansa rear muffler and twin tip produce dignified growl.
- Transmission shifts perfectly, all syncros are perfect.
Hard to find any as solid, straight and nice driving as this one. A blast to drive and will give a stock 2.0 liter Alfa a serious run for its money. Can definitely be enjoyed while being improved on.
